What is the difference between a provisional psychologist, a registered psychologist, and a clinical psychologist?

In Australia, psychologists’ levels of study and qualification are categorised with different titles.

A provisional psychologist is in the process of becoming a registered psychologist. A provisional psychologist is currently completing either a general registration pathway or is completing a postgraduate Master's, Doctorate, or Master's/PhD. Provisional psychologists are qualified to provide psychological assessment and treatment under the supervision of a Board-Registered Psychology Supervisor.

A clinical psychologist has specialised training and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of complex mental health conditions.
